Don Whitten_Architect
About
Don credits his humble, yet noble, rural ancestors and their vernacular building practices as the primary influence on his dedication to promote site conscious, environmentally responsible design solutions.
Don is passionate about connecting people with the natural environment. As an architect, Don’s focus is to design spaces and places where friends and families connect to community, nature, and culture. Satisfied clients include the Department of Natural Resources, the YMCA, Atlanta Public Schools, Emory University, and the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation.
Don’s approach is to understand the character and the culture of a place, its people & their needs. Working as an architect, a carpenter, and an educator, Don has had the opportunity to serve private and institutional clients throughout the American Southeast and the Pacific Northwest. Regarded as a talented architect, land planner & creative problem solver, Don has 3 decades of experience building client consensus and providing solutions to varied and complex problems.
Don founded CoNtEXT_design as an alternative to traditional architectural practice. CoNtEXT understands the value of pairing thoughtful design teams with creative build teams. CoNtEXT understands that success lies in the beauty of a community coming together to celebrate and to support one another in the spaces we create.
